Michael Glimcher Named to Industry Board of Governors and Magazine’s Editorial Board
Columbus, OH (November 8, 2011) - — Michael P. Glimcher, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of Glimcher Realty Trust (NYSE: GRT), has been named to the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trust’s (NAREIT) Board of Governors. The announcement was made yesterday during the NAREIT annual convention in Dallas. Glimcher will join other prominent executives in the real estate industry and be responsible for helping to maintain NAREIT's mission and purpose and for overseeing the promotion of the organization and its programs. His term officially began on November 6, 2011.
It was also announced that Glimcher will be added to REIT: Real Estate Investment Today magazine’s editorial board. In this role, he will serve as a resource for the publication staff offering advice on current trends, industry news and issues affecting the industry. REIT: Real Estate Investment Today magazine caters to professionals in the REIT and publicly-traded real estate industry.
NAREIT, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, is the worldwide representative voice for REITs and publicly traded real estate companies with an interest in U.S. real estate and capital markets. NAREIT's members are REITs and other businesses throughout the world that own, operate, and finance income-producing real estate, as well as those firms and individuals who advise, study, and service those businesses.
Glimcher is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, formerly serving on the board of trustees. He is currently a member of the board of trustees for the Arizona State University Foundation and the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio.
